Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time coach Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my both daughters together, so to win a trophy is really nice," said ranked player the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring reactions on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five games to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He saved four early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
